National Futures Association’s Chicago headquarters was designed as a people-first workplace that supports flexibility, collaboration, and employee engagement within a highly efficient office environment. Inspired by the building’s strong geometric forms, the design concept, “The Fold,” introduces angular elements and dynamic circulation paths that encourage interaction and connectivity.
Lighting design reinforces this concept through a layered approach that emphasizes geometry, rhythm, and visual comfort. Integrated linear lighting highlights folded ceiling planes and circulation paths, guiding occupants through the space while enhancing the architectural language. A key feature is a patterned illuminated ceiling inspired by a field of stars, creating a subtle yet powerful reminder that the future is as limitless as the universe.
Decorative and concealed lighting within lounges, café areas, and team spaces introduces a warm, hospitality-driven atmosphere. The result is a cohesive lighting environment that balances performance, flexibility, and inspiration while supporting employee wellness and engagement.
