For Calvin Klein at Macy’s Herald Square, lighting supports a retail environment defined by restraint, precision, and visual clarity. Set within the larger department store, the shop-in-shop required a lighting approach that could feel distinct and immersive while remaining aligned with the brand’s minimalist identity.
The luminous ceiling becomes the primary architectural gesture. Using Cooledge Lighting technology, the ceiling plane creates a soft, continuous field of light that gives the boutique a calm and refined atmosphere. Around this ambient layer, carefully integrated track lighting adds focus and contrast, bringing attention to apparel displays and supporting the rhythm of movement through the space.
The lighting composition brings together softness and precision: uniform ambient illumination for clarity, directional light for product emphasis, and high color rendering for accurate perception of fabric and finish. Within a busy retail destination, light creates a quieter, more intentional experience for the Calvin Klein brand.
